The following represents situations where recusal is required.
An NJIT officer/employee is required to recuse him/herself from participation in any matter:

- that he/she had any involvement in, other than on behalf of the State, prior to his/her appointment or employment with NJIT;
- if the officer/employee has any incompatible financial or personal interest, direct or indirect.
An NJIT officer/employee may recuse him/herself from a matter of their own accord or be requested to by an independent individual. If an NJIT officer/employee is requested to recuse him/herself by someone, the officer/employee should contact the NJIT Ethics Liaison Officer to review the matter and to advise the officer/employee as to the propriety of participation in the matter.
On any matter in which an NJIT officer/employee recuses him/herself, the recusal must be in writing and the Ethics Liaison Officer must be advised.
