Connecting with NJIT

Welcome to NJIT

Welcome international student and congratulations on your acceptance to New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT)!  We will soon be meeting you in Newark, New Jersey, a city of long history, culture, a world-renowned museum, fabulous performing arts center, a new spacious indoor arena and great food!

Upon arrival at orientation, if you have not done so, you must submit copies of:  ORIGINAL NJIT I-20, COPIES OF ALL PREVIOUS I-20’s, PASSPORT, VISA, I-94 and SEVIS DATA COLLECTION FORM.

If you are a J-1 student, submit  the ORIGINAL NJIT DS-2019 and copies of all other DS-2019’s, PASSPORT, VISA, I-94 and SEVIS DATA COLLECTION FORM.

Note: You may be arriving in the U.S. for the first time to begin studies.  If so, you will have only the NJIT I-20.

Mandatory Attendance

Our Orientations are MANDATORY for ALL students.  At Orientation, you will be given information about NJIT, your immigration status, receive detailed academic advisement, register for classes, meet our medical and public safety teams, open bank accounts and learn how to pay your tuition.  We have found that students who really engage in our orientation settle more quickly into their new surroundings, are happier and more successful!

Placement tests for undergraduate students are administered based on the student’s academic record.

Note:  If in doubt about the Placement Test, please contact the Center for First Year Students at (973) 596-2981 or email firstyearstudents@njit.edu.

The student Orientation is January 11 and January 12, 2016.
