Orientation

Welcome to NJIT!

Congratulations on your acceptance to New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT)!  We will soon be meeting you in Newark, New Jersey, a city of long history, culture, fabulous entertainment and great food!

Orientation dates and time

Our International Student Orientation will take place on August 29 - September 2, 2016.

ALL students (except Information Systems students, see below) are required to report on campus at 11:00 in the morning on August 29, 2016 for the first day of orientation. Students should meet in the lobby of the Campus Center, click here for a map of the campus.

Placement Test for Information Systems Students

Information Systems (IS) students will be required to take a placement test on Ausgut 29, 2016, at 9:30 in the morning.  You should plan to arrive on campus at 9:00 in the morning. As soon as you arrive on campus come to our office at Fenster Hall, suite 140. Click here for a map of the campus.

Documentation required

Upon arrival at orientation you will be required to provide:

  • Original I-20 or DS-2019
  • Passport
  • Printed I-94

Our orientation is MANDATORY for ALL students.  At orientation, you will be given information about NJIT, your immigration status, receive detailed academic advisement, register for classes, meet our medical and public safety teams, and learn how to pay your tuition.  We have found that students who really engage in our orientation settle more quickly into their new surroundings, are happier and more successful!

If, for reasons beyond your control, you are unable to attend the orientation, please contact us immediately via email global@njit.edu to let us know when you will be arriving on campus.  Upon arrival, report to the Office of Global Initiatives at Fenster Hall, suite 140.

We are looking forward to seeing you on campus soon!
