About Us
The Albert Dorman Honors College's Center for Leadership and Professional Development (CLPD), launched in the spring of 2015, connects honors scholars with meaningful civic and professional relationships with community-based organizations in Newark and the surrounding area. In accordance to its 2020 strategic plan, the CLPD focuses its programming on leadership, ethics, sustainability, and social responsibility through academic, civic engagement, and professional development opportunities. Combined with NJIT's niche as a well-renowned technical public university, our honors scholars graduate with knowledge and relevant experience to become leaders in their respective field as they enter a workforce that relies heavily on technological advancements.
The CLPD seeks to develop students into conscientious global leaders who understand the value of ethics, social responsibility, sustainability and who will champion social transformation within their professions. Honors students are encouraged to participate in the following:
- Leadership and professional development
- Unique civic engagement opportunities
- Leaders 4 Higher Certificate Program
- Exclusive networking opportunities with NJIT's top alumni
- Educating Newark's youth through STEM mentoring, tutoring, and coding opportunities
