NJIT FY08 budget submission to NJ OMB NJIT FY08 budget submission to NJ OMB
Each year as part of the State budgeting process, we, along with the other State colleges and universities, submit a budget request to the State Office of Management and Budget. We recently submitted our request, and the complete submission can be found on the NJIT web site at under the FY08 link.

The while our budget needs are great, we submitted a specific request for Core Needs and outlined Priorities for support, which we will continue to pursue in discussions with elected officials. The Core Needs comprise a request for an increase in State appropriations of 13.1% over our FY07 appropriation of $47.2 million for an FY08 request of $53.4 million. This increase is requested to support a salary program of $2.6 million, a 3% increase in non-personnel operations ($1.0 million), an allocation of $1.0 million to NJIT’s State designated Homeland Security Technology Systems Center, and smaller amounts for efforts in critical infrastructure education and research, teacher training in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, and planning for eventual use of the existing Central High School building. In addition, we are requesting, as a Core Need, additional base full-time equivalent positions be recognized as a! uthorized by the State and that our graduate students be included in the State health, dental and prescription drug programs.

Priority Needs requests by-and-large derive from the Strategic Plan and include, as well, an identified need for library development.
