NCAA Certification Report
Not unlike the Middle States Commission on Higher Education accreditation process, the NCAA carries out a certification process every ten years for Division I members. As part of this process, a self study was conducted this academic year. The Self Study Steering Committee, comprised of faculty, students, and staff, recently completed and submitted our Certification Report to the NCAA.

The Certification Report is comprised of three sections that encompass the student-athlete experience.  A group of three subcommittees, chaired by faculty and staff with student input, were created to develop the data and information used for the report. The three subcommittees were Governance, Academic Integrity, and Equity Student-Athlete Wellness chaired by Holly Stern, Robert English and Phyllis Bolling, respectively. The subcommittee chairs were assisted by Denise Coleman, Sharon Morgan, and Marybeth Boger in addition to Alexis Schug, Risa Ott, and Tim Wuorinen from the Department of Athletics. Pamela Johnson and Xenia Thomas provided technical support to the subcommittees throughout the year long process.

The next phase of the certification process will be a campus visit by a Peer Review Team in mid-September. The Team will be on campus meeting with the departments that provide support services to our student-athletes as well as academic advising and wellness programming.

The report is available on the NJIT website under Top News and may be found on the Institutional Research and Planning website as well.

Thanks to all of the subcommittee members for their contributions in developing the Certification Report. We will keep the university community posted as the remaining objectives in the process are accomplished.
