How-To: Faculty Profile Guidelines

College Faculty Profile Guidelines

Static Fields:

  • "UCID Zone": Check the DIRECTORY for the CORRECT UCID of the faculty member and place it here
  • "Academic Interests": The keywords put in this field should be Subject Specific and taken from the research interest if applicable. If no research interests are given, place the department that they work for as the keyword. DO NOT use "and", complete sentences, or upper case letters unless it is an acronym. Separate each word with a comma.
    • Example: writing, poetry, literature
  • "Picture Image URL" - Leave this field blank! The system will automatically insert your photo based on the UCID provided.


Tabs and Widgets:

  • The About Tab
    • Standard Blurb (Place in center column for information blurbs and right column for related links)
      • Every about tab should have at least one standard blurb titled "About Me", even if there is no information to put in it.
      • Other blurbs should be added underneath the "About Me" to hold information such as "Education", "Professional Societies", "Awards and Honors", and any other justified information for this area. (Each category should have its own blurb with proper title).
      • IF NEEDED: A standard blurb can be pulled into the right column and titled "Related Links" if the faculty member has links to places associated with the information under this tab such as society pages and vitae's. This blurb should be at the top of the right column before any widget.
    • News (Place in right column)
      • Place ONLY the first and last name of the faculty member in the field.
      • Set the number of stories to 3 if it is not defaulted. If you want more stories to appear then just change the number.
  • The Teaching Tab
    • Standard Blurb (Place in center column for information blurbs and right column for related links.
      • Place information such as "Courses Taught", "Lecture Notes", "Syllabi", etc. if available within respected titled blurbs.
      • IF NEEDED: A standard blurb can be pulled into the right column and titled related links if the faculty member has links to the places associated with the information under this tab such as class projects or homework. This blurb should be at the top of the right column before any other widget.
    • My Courses (Place in right column unless it is the only teaching information)
      • If there is no information for standard blurbs, drag the My Courses widget to the center column.
    • My Blog (Place in right column under My Courses if applicable)
  • The Research Tab
    • Standard Blurb (Place in center column for information blurbs and right column for related links. If there is no research information provided, leave this area BLANK.)
      • Place blurbs in for information such as "Research Interests", "Current Research", and "Research Projects".
      • IF NEEDED: A standard blurb can be pulled into the right column and titled Related Links if the faculty member has links to the places associated with the information under this tab such as research organizations. This blurb should be at the top of the right column before any other widget.
    • Features (Place in right hand column)
      • ONLY put the department name of the faculty member as the keyword.
        • Example: humanities
  • The Publications & Projects Tab
    • Standard Blurb (Place in center column for information blurbs and right column for related links. If there is no research information provided, leave this field blank).
      • Place blurbs for information such as "Selected Publications", "Books and Journals", and "Papers". If there is an extensive list of any of the topics, only insert a few and add a related link to view the full list.
      • IF NEEDED: A standard blurb can be pulled into the right column and titled Related Links if the faculty member has links to the places associated with the information under this tab such as research organizations. This blurb should be at the top of the right column before any other widget.
  • The Videos Tab
    • If the faculty member has videos within the NJIT Media Site, the will automatically be pulled into this area.
    • If the faculty member has YouTube videos, information and links to the video can be put in the text area provided.
    • Images tagged on the NJIT Flickr Site will automatically show up in the right column on the active site.
