What is NJIT L.E.A.D.S.?
NJIT L.E.A.D.S. is NJIT's very own student conference for professional and personal development focusing on Leadership, Engagement, Advocacy, Diversity/inclusion, and Service hosted by the Office of Student Life. Co-sponsors and partners for this conference have included:

NJIT L.E.A.D.S. Conference Information
NJIT L.E.A.D.S. takes place annually in the winter. Attendees can expect a full day of excellent keynotes, workshops, and service projects, along with plenty of networking opportunities with NJIT students, staff, and conference presenters. Students who attend will also have the opportunity to win various door prizes at raffles throughout the day and will receive lunch and snacks. Registration typically opens in November and is available until a few days prior to the conference. Our past keynote speakers include:
2020: T.J. Sullivan is originally from the Washington, D.C. area, and he is one of the most sought-after college leadership speakers in the nation. To date, he has spoken to more than 3-million students at over 2,000 colleges and universities in all 50 states. His first book, "Motivating the Middle: Fighting Apathy in College Student Organizations" is currently being used in more than 100 college leadership courses. T.J. studied Journalism at Indiana University-Bloomington, and he graduated at age 19, even though he failed Statistics, twice. While at IU, he was a founding father of his chapter of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, and then spent three years working for the national organization after graduating. He is still an active Pi Kappa Phi volunteer. In addition to speaking at dozens of campus and conference events each year, T.J. is a Partner and Vice President of Sales for the ForCollegeForLife college speakers agency. T.J. and his family live in Denver, Colorado, and he posts way too many pictures of his chihuahuas, Jelly and Pickle, on Instagram.
2019: Harlan Cohen is a New York Times bestselling author, nationally syndicated advice columnist, and speaker who has visited over 400 college campuses. He is the author of five books including, The Naked Roommate: And 107 Other Issues You Might Run Into In College, The Naked Roommate: For Parents Only, and Dad's Expecting Too!. His newest book, Getting Naked: Five Steps to Finding the Love of Your Life While Fully Clothed and Totally Sober, was recently released by St. Martin's Press. Harlan is a frequent guest on television and radio programs and has appeared on the Today Show. Harlan will be visiting the NJIT L.E.A.D.S. Conference from Chicago, Illinois.
2019: Lawrese Brown, Founder of C-Track, partners with colleges and companies to equip professionals with the communication, collaboration, creative and critical thinking skills that employers value. She’s authored two soft-skills curriculums - a thirty-hour curriculum for students in Schools That Can’s National Career Skills Programs and a ten-week course curriculum for first year students at Brookdale Community College. Lawrese has equipped thousands of students with leadership and communication skills through learning partnerships with high schools, colleges, and non-profit organizations. She has a Masters in Educational Leadership, Advocacy, & Politics from NYU and a B.A in Africana Studies and Public Relations & Public Policy from Gettysburg College. She also has the same birthday as Oprah.
