About Us
The Lisa A. Pierce Center for Leadership was established in 2004 by the Student Senate, the Dean of Students, and the Vice President of Student Affairs as a resource for college student development. Specifically, the center was created to assist student leaders who serve in roles on campus, as well as to foster new student leaders. The office falls within the Office of Campus Life.
Our Values
As an office, we value the Social Change Model of Leadership Development. We support the three distinct categories and infuse it into our services.
- The Individual - It is important to know yourself, to know your leadership style, and to understand exactly how much you're capable of doing.
- The Group - One must understand how a group works and how you can integrate what you have learned about yourself to further the group's goals. To teach students how groups can be started and how a proper group dynamic can be kept.
- The Community - The community is where our heart lies and the place we are to use these skills that we learn to create change.
