  1. Log into Highlander Pipeline.
  2. Go to the “Payroll Services” tile.
  3. Select “Pay Stub”
  4. Select the “Pay Year” you want to view.
  5. Select “Pay Date” to view.

- Contact your timesheet/ leave report approver/supervisor if you have any questions about the number of paid, unpaid, docked, or Paid Time Off (PTO) hours.
- Full-time employees: Contact Human Resources at hr@njit.edu if you have questions about your pay rate, start date, and assignment status.
- Student employees: Contact the student employment office if you have questions about your pay rate, start date, and assignment status.
- Contact Benefits benefits@njit.edu if you have any questions regarding your health, dental, or pension amounts.

Paychecks are not distributed. They are being mailed to the address on file.

Complete the Stop Payment form. A replacement paycheck will be issued within two weeks.

Option 1:
Email the completed Stop Payment form to payroll@njit.edu.
Always use your NJIT Email for communication. For data security reasons we are unable to accept non-NJIT emails.

Option 2:
Submit it to the payroll office, Fenster Hall, Room 525.

Paychecks over 90 days old are considered “stale dated” and may not be accepted by your bank for deposit. In such situations, you may return your paycheck to the Payroll Office. The Payroll Office can reissue you this paycheck after it receives confirmation from the bank that the paycheck has not been cashed. Sometimes, your bank may accept your deposit of a paycheck over 90 days old.

DIRECT DEPOSIT

  3. Select Create/Update Direct Deposit.

It takes two weeks for direct deposit to become active.

The Direct Deposit update window will be unavailable during the payroll processing period, which is Friday through Tuesday (a week before the payroll check date)
For example: If the pay date is March 31st, 2023, the update window will be closed from March 24th-28th.

PAYROLL TAXES

Complete your W-4 (Federal W-4) and State Forms (New JerseyCalifornia, New YorkPennsylvania) pertaining to your state of residency. Submit forms to payroll with two options below:

Option 1:
Submit your W-4 and State forms by email to payroll@njit.edu
Include your NJIT ID on the top of all your tax forms. For data security reasons, we recommend not to include your Social Security Number on the forms. Review Payroll Taxes FAQ on how to find your NJIT ID.
Always use your NJIT Email for communication. For data security reasons we are unable to accept non-NJIT emails.

Option 2:
Submit it to the Payroll Office, Fenster Hall, Room 525.

  4. School ID (NJIT ID) is mentioned on the right side of the web page.

  1. Select Banner Employee Self Service under Human Resource Services tile.

  2. Select My Profile 
  3. Your NJIT ID is located below your photo and name.

Yes, New Jersey State Law states that if you work in New Jersey, you must pay taxes in New Jersey. However, you do have the option of withholding additional taxes for New York or Pennsylvania.

NJIT offers two commuter Tax Save Programs. Enrolling in either of these programs may provide tax savings of up to 35% up to $315.00 per month for 2024.

NJ Transit - You may purchase your NJ TRANSIT bus, rail, and light rail monthly pass through payroll deductions by filling out a Business Pass Enrollment Form and returning it to Payroll with the two options below.

Option 2:
You can submit it to the Payroll Office, Fenster Hall, Room 525.

Commutercheck:  for employees traveling on other States’ Transit Systems - It’s very easy to use and manage. You must log in to login.commuterbenefits.com and enroll yourself. 

Information required to enroll.

  1. Company ID: SNJ5
  2. NJIT ID (Refer to Payroll Taxes FAQ How to find your NJIT ID)

  3. Select “W-2 Wage and Tax Statement.”
  4. Select “Tax Year”
  5. Select “Display”

You can find the explanation of W-2 Box codes here.

Per IRS regulations, W-2s are available online in the Banner Self-Service by January 31st of the following year. If you have not consented to receive your W-2 online or have separated from the university, a hard copy will be mailed to your permanent address on file.

Active employees must print their W-2s from the Highlander Pipeline. Separated employees must send an email request to Payroll@njit.edu.
