Moving into your on-campus residence hall room, suite, or apartment is an exciting yet hectic time for new and returning students alike. Residence Life staff will do our very best to make the move-in process as easy and simple as possible in order to help you get settled into your new home away from home. Please review the information and resources below before you arrive to campus. We look forward seeing you at your new home!

CHECKING IN
To check-in to your room, go to the building that you have been assigned, following opening dates published by Residence Life. Fall 2019 dates and check-in times are as follows:

Check-in Hours: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. & 8 p.m. -10 p.m.
Residents must have a valid ID card to check into any building and must present it to the residence life staff. At check-in, you will receive a room key or combination, a mailbox key and NJIT ID (if you are a new student). You will also sign a room inventory form. This inventory form is a checklist regarding the condition of the room upon check-in and an accounting of the room furnishings. If you find any discrepancies with the room inventory, you must document and return it to your RA within 48 hours of your check-in.
IMMUNIZATIONS
The meningitis vaccine is required for all undergraduate, graduate, and transfer students who are new to NJIT and/or are new to University Housing. If you plan to live on campus, you WILL NOT be allowed to move into, or have access to, on-campus housing if you have not submitted proof of all pre-entrance health requirements including the meningitis vaccine. All documents must be submitted to NJIT Health Services no later than July 15, 2019. Click here for additional and important information regarding immunization requirements.
LATE ARRIVALS
If you have not checked into your room within 48 hours your scheduled check-in date, you will forfeit your room assignment and be charged the cancellation fee as indicated in the terms and conditions of the housing application and contract for fall 2019 through spring 2020. If you plan to arrive late, please contact our office so we can make note.

MEAL PLANS
Student meal plans will be activated for use on Wednesday, August 28th for lunch. Students are allowed to change their meal plan one time until 9/19/19.

Meet staff members from various departments at NJIT as well as off-campus vendors with free giveaways! Play corn hole, Giant Jenga, Giant Connect Four and Giant Chess to name a few. Listen to music and take photos in the NJIT BIG CHAIR! Sponsored by Residence Life and the Office of Student Life.
Family Send-Off BBQ
Wednesday, August 28th 4-6pm, Honors Green (Between the Honors Hall and the Greek Village)
Before leaving campus, stop by the Honors Green for a family BBQ. Meet NJIT staff and take a family photo to capture the day! All FREE to families!
