If an NJIT officer or employee or special NJIT officer or employee is found to have violated the Conflicts of Interest Law, the Ethics Regulations, the Uniform Code of Ethics or the NJIT Supplemental Code of Ethics, sanctions up to, and including, termination may be imposed on the individual by NJIT.
Notwithstanding sanctions imposed by NJIT, the State Ethics Commission can levy fines ranging from $500 to $10,000 and may order restitution, demotion, censure or reprimand. The State Ethics Commission is also authorized to order that the violator be suspended or dismissed from office or employment.
If the person willfully and continuously disregards the provisions of the Conflicts of Interest Law, the Ethics Regulations, the Uniform Code of Ethics or the NJIT Supplemental Code of Ethics, the State Ethics Commission may order that the person be barred from holding any public office or employment in this State, in any capacity whatsoever, for a period of up to five years.
